Credit dispute
Jump to a section
If something on your report is wrong, you dispute it with the credit bureau, online or by mail, with proof. A legal right, and free.
- US: the bureau has 30 days to investigate.
- Canada: Equifax takes about 15–20 days online.
If it’s right, a dispute won’t remove it: that’s what a goodwill letter is for.
From FILE 005: wrong or right?, or write your dispute letter with the free Credit Score Simulator.
